Seller Description

This 1992 Acura NSX was acquired by the seller in 2017, and its 3.0-liter V6 was later rebuilt in 2021 by ScienceofSpeed, who also installed twin Garrett GT2860 turbochargers. The seller tells us that it went on to win first place in the “Super Car” class at the Indianapolis World of Wheels car show in 2022. Additional modifications are said to include an air-to-water intercooler, an E85-capable fuel system, ARP hardware, an AEM Infinity 6 engine management system, an Exedy twin-disc clutch, a custom exhaust system, and more as outlined below. Shifting is through a five-speed manual transaxle, and the car is finished in red over black leather. It rides on Tein coilovers as well as staggered-diameter Enkei wheels and is further equipped with a carbon-fiber front lip, hood, and rear wing, while the interior houses a Sparco steering wheel, Impact four-point racing harnesses, air conditioning, and an infotainment screen with a gaugeART digital display. This twin-turbocharged NSX shows 136k miles and is now offered with an owner’s manual, a Carfax report, and a rebuilt Indiana title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished from the factory in Formula Red and was repainted following the replacement of the left fender and door. A carbon-fiber VIS Racing hood has been installed along with a carbon-fiber Shine Auto Project front lip, an NSX-R-style rear wing, and tinted front side marker lights. The Carfax report lists a July 2016 accident resulting in “moderate damage” to the left front of the car and notes that the vehicle was deemed a total loss by an insurance company in March 2017.

Black-finished 17″ and 18″ Enkei PF05 wheels are wrapped in 235/40 front and 285/35 rear Accelera 651 Sport tires. NSX-R-style chassis braces and Delrin steering rack bushings have been installed, and the suspension has been fitted with Tein coilovers and Cedar Ridge Non-Compliance front pivot clamps. Braking is provided by red NSX-branded calipers over cross-drilled and slotted StopTech rotors.

The cockpit features power-adjustable sport seats trimmed in black leather, and a harness bar with Impact four-point harnesses has been fitted for each occupant. Appointments include automatic climate control, cruise control, a Bose sound system, a cassette stereo, and a dash-mounted infotainment screen with a gaugeART digital display.

The flat-bottom Sparco steering wheel is mounted on a quick disconnect hub and fronts a 188-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 136k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added under current ownership.

The seller tells us that the mid-mounted 3.0-liter V6 was rebuilt by ScienceofSpeed in Chandler, Arizona, in March 2021. The build is noted to have involved installing twin Garrett GT2860 turbochargers in addition to replacing or retrofitting the following components:

  • Air-to-water intercooler
  • TiAL blow-off valve
  • Oil catch can
  • ARP hardware
  • MLS cylinder head gasket
  • Baffled oil pan
  • Lost Motion Assembly kit
  • AEM Infinity 6 stand-alone engine management system w/flex-fuel sensor
  • VVIS delete kit
  • E85-compatible fuel injectors
  • Revised fuel pump w/electric boost controller
  • Bearings
  • Pistons & rings
  • Ignition coils
  • Spark plugs
  • Optima Red Top battery w/custom mount
  • Titanium hardware

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. A photo showing transaxle serial number JA4A-1005411 is provided in the gallery, indicating that the unit falls within the snap ring failure range, but the seller tells us that it has been replaced. An Exedy flywheel and twin-disc clutch are said to have been fitted, and the ScienceofSpeed exhaust system features high-flow catalytic converters.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned July 2016 accident and March 2017 total loss vehicle declarations and notes subsequent salvage title/certificate and rebuilt title issuances.

The current Indiana title carries a “Rebuilt Vehicle” brand.
