Seller Description

While searching for an NSX over a 6 month period in early 2011 I came across a press photo of a Veilside body kit on the NSX. It was unique and something my 12 other local NSX driving friends did not have. So, I located an automatic NSX with a high mileage history and wear that left me no guilt in changing nearly everything about it

I ended up finding this particular vehicle in California - Thousand Oaks area. The interior was pretty worn, the wheels were awful, the exterior had scuffs and scratches and the Carfax showed 177,000 miles with around 83,000 on the recently replaced Gauge cluster - BUT the 3.0L engine and transmission were new in March 2011 (verified by receipt provided by the shop in Roseville that performed the work. $10,400 total), the Carfax was Clear & the Title was Clean! Everything checked out where it needed and it was ripe for modification!

I purchased the car on July 6th, 2011 and starting with the addition of the Veilside widebody, the vehicle started down it’s new life. Finished in Jet Stream Blue Metallic (from the Corvette Z06), the new widebody was fitted with Halo Projector Lights and High Intensity kits for increased safety and visibility. To account for the additional six inches of width to the vehicle, a custom set of Forged Specialties SC M14 3 Piece Wheels were added with dimensions of 18x9 et+10 in the Front and 19x11 et+0 in the Rear.

The factory brake system was replaced with a Stoptech Big Brake Kit and 4 piston Calipers, 13” slotted rotors, stainless brake lines and an emergency brake kit on the rear in 2017. Additionally, new TEIN adjustable coilover suspension was added to stabilize body roll and keep the tires better connected to the road. The tires chosen to fit this widebody are Hankook 255/35-R18 Tires in the Front and Hankook 295/30-R19 Tires in the Rear – installed on 9/26/2019 – and have an estimated 1,000 miles of use since install.

In 2018, the front steering rack was rebuilt by Matt Lindsey of NSX Rack Repair and returned with the NSX-R Steering ratio to tighten up control and provide better response.

In 2020, the entire fuel system was refreshed with new lines, injectors and a Walbro fuel pump. While this was being addressed, the engine mounts were replaced and other rubber underbody components were replaced for the sake of refreshing the vehicle, including exhaust hangers for the DC Sports Exhaust System.

Also in 2020 both window tracks and motors were rebuilt and the older OEM keyless entry system was replaced with a modern, longer distance keyless entry and remote start system - a Compustar CSX4900-S.

On the interior, in 2011 the OEM leather seats were recovered with new black leather seats highlighted with body color double stitching and suede inserts. With the new leather seats, the door inserts were also replaced with suede. The OEM stereo system was removed and a new Android based 7” Touchscreen Head Unit w/ Wifi NAV, Video & MP3 functionality was installed. This system was further updated in 2019 with a newer Android system and a Kenwood Digital Amp. Sound is delivered through Alpine S Type component speakers in the doors and coaxial speaker in the center bolster. Increased sound depth is provided through an Earthquake SXS 10” subwoofer installed in a custom composite box replacing the OEM enclosure in the floor well. Very well hidden.

Further interior updates include a true carbon fiber center console, a period correct MOMO steering wheel in place of the dated factory NSX wheel and carbon fiber overlaid switch covers.

Despite buying this as a clean title vehicle and having a clear Carfax at the time, I must note that in 2015 Carfax updated the history of the vehicle showing a total loss prior to my ownership as a result of a theft recovery. This was not present when I bought the vehicle and Carfax would give me no details aside from “Engine and Transmission were stolen”. Bright side, new engine and transmission. Dark side, history discrepancy. Doesn’t change the fact it is an incredible vehicle with a very unique build out.
