This 1999 Acura NSX shows just 38k miles and is #44 of 51 Zanardi Edition examples produced exclusively for the US market. The Zanardi Edition features a fixed roof, lightweight rear spoiler, single-pane rear glass, BBS wheels, manual steering, and a lighter battery to reduce the total weight by 149 pounds compared to the contemporary NSX-T. All were finished in New Formula Red over a black interior and powered by a 3.2-liter VTEC V6 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. This example was registered in California until 2009, when it was acquired by the current owner and moved to Minnesota. Maintenance in September 2019 included a new timing belt, water pump, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and brake fluid. This Zanardi NSX is now being sold at no reserve in Illinois on dealer consignment. The sale includes a window sticker, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Minnesota title.
The Zanardi Edition was produced to commemorate Alex Zanardi’s back-to-back CART championships for Honda in 1997 and 1998. Aluminum bodywork is finished in New Formula Red, and the fixed roof has received a black vinyl wrap. The seller reports that the driver’s door and quarter panel were repainted under previous ownership, though no accidents or other damage appears on the Carfax report. The lower front spoiler has been replaced, and photos showing the pop-up headlights in their raised position are provided in the gallery.
Forged BBS alloy wheels measure 16” in diameter up front and 17” out back. Bridgestone Potenza tires display date codes from 2005. The Zanardi Edition features stiffer suspension than a standard NSX of the period, as well as manual rack-and-pinion steering in place of electric power steering. The rear brakes and rotors were serviced in 2009, and the brake system was recently flushed.
Power-adjustable seats are trimmed in Onyx leather with suede-like inserts and red stitching. Branded floor mats line the footwells, and a stock cassette stereo is retained in the center stack. Additional factory amenities include power windows and door locks, air conditioning, a titanium shift knob, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Instrumentation includes a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, and a six-digit odometer showing just over 38k miles, fewer than 2k of which were added during the last decade.
A brushed-aluminum plaque designates this car as the 44th Zanardi Edition NSX.
The 3.2-liter DOHC V6 features VTEC variable valve timing and was rated for 290 horsepower and 224 lb-ft of torque when new. The timing belt and water pump were replaced by Continental Acura of Naperville, Illinois in September 2019, along with the valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, air filter, and transmission fluid. A receipt from the work is provided in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and factory limited-slip differential. According to the seller, a new clutch kit was installed in 2007. Additional photos showing the underbody are viewable below.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or other issues and shows history in California and Minnesota with two registered owners. Several videos showing interior and exterior functions are provided in the playlist below.
