This 1991 Acura NSX is an early-production example and one of 383 US-spec models finished in Formula Red over Ivory leather for the model year. Sold new by Rick Case Acura of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the car remained with its original owner until February of this year. Power is from a mid-mounted 3.0-liter VTEC V6 coupled with a five-speed manual transaxle, and the odometer shows just under 64k miles. The timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gaskets were replaced in April 2019. This NSX is now offered by the selling dealer with service records, a clean Carfax report, four keys, two keyless remotes, and a clean Florida title.
Formula Red (R-77) was one of three colors available for the first-year NSX, and this car has reportedly been refinished in its factory shade. The front chin spoiler has recently been replaced, and the Carfax report shows no history of accidents or other damage.
Factory five-spoke alloy wheels measure 15” in diameter up front and 16” out back and were fitted with new Hankook Ventus tires in March 2019. Like all 1991 model year NSXs, this example came standard with a fixed roof finished in black. Trunk and engine lid hydraulic struts are reported to have been recently replaced.
Power-adjustable seats are trimmed in Ivory leather, which is contrasted by a black dashboard, upper door panels, and floor mats. Factory equipment includes a Bose cassette stereo, an airbag steering wheel, and a leather shift knob. The selling dealer notes that the radio surrounding trim has recently been replaced.
Instrumentation consists of a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, and a six-digit mechanical odometer that shows under 64k miles.
The 3.0-liter DOHC V6 features VTEC variable valve timing and was factory rated at 270 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 210 lb-ft of torque at 5,300 rpm when new. The timing belt, accessory belts, valve cover gaskets, water pump, and cooling hoses were replaced in April 2019 by Rick Case Acura, and the work is outlined by an invoice that is pictured in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transaxle with a factory limited-slip differential. The transaxle carries number J4A4-1000655 as shown in the gallery, placing this gearbox before the snap-ring range. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
The factory manuals and keys are included, and gallery photos depict under-hood warning stickers, the spare wheel, and window glass markings.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage and shows history in Florida from new.
