This 1991 Acura NSX resided in Ojai with the original owner before coming to Sherman Oaks with the current owner in 2000. The car is finished in Formula Red with a black roof over a black leather interior and is powered by a naturally-aspirated 3.0L V6 paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. The timing belt and water pump were replaced in 2018, and the car was displayed at the Japanese Car Reception at the Petersen in May 2019. This NSX is offered on behalf of the current owner with service records, handwritten notes, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The exterior is finished in Formula Red with a contrasting black roof, which was one of just three available color combos on first-year NSXs. Per the seller, the driver side was partially refinished due to another car passing too close in traffic and scraping the paint, and the front bumper was repainted previously due to a crack. The seller describes a slight saturation difference in the finish on the driver’s side quarter panel.
Factory wheels measure 15″ and 16″ in diameter front and rear respectively. The fitted Kumho Ecsta Supra tires are older, though they are said to show good tread depth and no cracking.
The seats, dash, steering wheel, door panels, and more are upholstered in black leather with matching carpets and plastics. The car is equipped with four-way power adjustable seats, power mirrors, and automatic climate control. The factory stereo has been retained, and the car has been fitted with an aftermarket amplifier and speakers.
Both window regulators have been replaced, and the shift knob was replaced due to wear. The original item is included. Wear is described on the steering wheel rim, and the seller notes some wind noise at the driver’s door seal at high speeds. 68k miles are shown on the mechanical odometer, more than 40k of which were added by the current owner.
The 3.0L C30A V6 is equipped with VTEC variable valve timing and was factory-rated at 270 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. Per included records, the water pump and timing belt were replaced in 2018 at 66k miles, and the trunk struts were recently replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed transmission with a factory limited-slip differential. The transmission carries number J4A4-1001907, placing this gearbox before the snap-ring range. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
A 4" binder of service records is included, along with handwritten notes regarding the services, handwritten phone transcriptions, and more.
The Carfax report shows ownership history in California from its first update in 1992. No accidents or other issues are noted in the report.
