PTunning of Manassas, VA did a leak down test for me after I noticed some smoke upon hard acceleration, I have documents. Leak down test proved the motor is still within specs! Turn out to be bad seals on the Turbo. Had it rebuilt by Tim Turbos in Falls Church, VA as mentioned above.
1 90 IN PSI 84 OUT PSI 6.7%
2 90 IN PSI 84 OUT PSI 6.7%
3 90 IN PSI 83 OUT PSI 7.8%
4 90 IN PSI 84 OUT PSI 6.7%
5 90 IN PSI 87 OUT PSI 3.3%
6 90 IN PSI 88 OUT PSI 2.2%
PASSED LEAK DOWN TEST!
I used the car predominantly the first year of ownership and gradually it became a garage queen.
It is safe to say that well over 35k was invested into this NSX. If your planning to go Turbo, as many have - this car will take you right where you need to be and a lot cheaper. Very reliable, running a safe tune pushing approx 420whp! You could enjoy this car daily. Its a blast to drive.
Just last month I had two new rear matching tires installed, new shift knob, new hatch struts. Since its not map well for cold starts I just had the entire throttle body removed from the car and cleaned. While it was out I installed a new oem fast idle valve and also had the idle air control valve replaced. Installed a new ignition harness. I was tired of hard starts so I also removed that little Odyssey battery and put in a full size battery and ordered a hold down for it. A set of brand new NSX floor mats are on the way and will be included with the car along with a custom fitted car cover I have used since I've owned it. I had a full detail on the vehicle when I purchased the car and never had it in the rain since. Its clean as can be in/out/underneath with normal evidence of minor rock chips in the front and on the lower air dam package as expected for a lowered car, however free from any major damaged or eye sores. I'm the type who parks at the end of the lot, out of the sun, and always checks back on the car......as a result... the car is free from any door dings! The only issues on the car is the power seat switch for the passenger seat which I will have rebuilt or replaced and sent to the new owner.
