This 1992 Acura NSX is finished in Formula Red over Ivory leather and was sold new at Naples Acura in Florida. The car remained with the original owner until his passing in 2017, and the selling dealer acquired it about six months ago. Power comes from a mid-mounted 3.0-liter VTEC V6 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, and the odometer currently shows 69k miles. A $3,500 service in October 2014 at 65k miles included a new timing belt, water pump, battery, tires, spark plugs, and more as described below. The thermostat was replaced by the seller in December 2017, and an oil and filter change was performed at the same time. This NSX is now being offered in Georgia with a clean Carfax report, maintenance records, and a clean South Carolina title.
Finished in Formula Red (R-77), the car has received paintwork to the left front fender, driver door, roof, and deck lid, though no history of accidents or other damage is noted by the attached Carfax. The selling dealer fixed a dent in the roof caused by debris, and a small dent is present on the black trim below the valance at the left front corner of the car. The windshield seal is also said to be deteriorating.
Factory alloy wheels measure 15″ and 16″ in diameter front and rear respectively, and four new Dunlop tires were mounted about 5k miles ago in 2014. The NSX came standard with 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes and ABS. Per the seller, no modifications have been made to the suspension or brakes on this example.
The interior features powered Ivory seats with matching carpeting and black upper trim. Cracking the driver’s leather seat upholstery can be seen clearly in the gallery below.
The odometer shows 69,257 miles, about 350 of which have been added by the selling dealer. The cabin retains the factory leather-trimmed steering wheel, Bose radio, and 180 mph speedometer.
The transverse 3.0-liter DOHC V6 was rated at 270 horsepower when new. The 5-speed manual transmission shows serial #J4A4-1004531, which is within snap-ring failure range. An October 2014 service at Hilton Head Honda in Bluffton, South Carolina saw the replacement of the timing belt, water pump, cam and crankshaft seals, alternator, battery, spark plugs, and VTEC gaskets. A December 2017 service included the replacement of the thermostat and thermostat housing, as well as an oil and filter change.
Surface rust is noted by the seller on most exposed components underneath. More photos of the undercarriage can be found in the gallery below, showing corrosion in other locations.
This car comes with its original books and some service records dating back to 1992. Service records show maintenance at Hilton Head Honda between 2005 and 2015. Later service was carried out at Southern Motors Acura of Savannah, Georgia, and then by the selling dealer in Georgia.
The clean Carfax report shows no issues and displays service history dating back to 2003. It also indicates three previous owners, though the original owner’s name can be seen in the factory owner’s manual, a registration certificate from the mid 1990s, and on a title from last year as shown in the gallery below.
