Seller Description

This 1991 Acura NSX is a 97k-mile example that was originally sold in North Carolina, and was registered in California and Texas before being purchased by the seller in March 2016 from a Honda employee in Illinois. Power comes from a 3.0L VTEC V6 engine that is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car has been modified with a JDM gearset, DC Sports headers and exhaust, Comptech test pipes, Comptech and Bilstein suspension components, and more detailed in the listing. Recent service includes a valve adjustment and a new twin disc clutch kit with flywheels, replaced coolant hoses, rear main seal, front engine mount, and baffled oil pan. In addition, the car’s snap ring was addressed by the dealer in 1999, and the timing belt and water pump were replaced in 2015. This NSX is now offered with service records from 1994 to present, the original owners manuals, an additional Set of 17″ BBS LM wheels, a Carfax, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Berlina Black (NH-547) paint is shown up-close in photographs below. The Carfax shows an accident in 1994 involving a front impact and the seller notes evidence of paintwork and bodywork on the passenger side front fender. The front windshield was replaced by the seller in August 2017.

The car is currently fitted with a set of 16/17″ 7-spoke alloy wheels from a 1994 NSX, and Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tires were mounted in July 2017. The original 15/16″ wheels are no longer with the car, though a set of 17″ BBS LM wheels mounted on Bridgestone RE71R tires are included in the sale.

Inside, the black leather upholstery (E) on the seats and door inserts is contrasted by an aftermarket aluminum shift knob. Some wear can be seen on the outer bolster of the driver’s seat, and the coating on the center console trim shows some shrinking. A new OEM rear view mirror, sun visors, and trunk carpet were installed in 2017.

The Bose AM/FM cassette sound system remains in place, and the car came equipped with automatic climate control and cruise control as standard items. An analog odometer shows 96,998 miles, approximately 4k of which have been added by the seller.

Each door sill contains a plate with an engraving of the car’s serial number MT002837.

The 3.0L C30A V6 engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission that was fitted with an JDM gearset in 1999. A letter from Bob Howard Acura in Edmond, Oklahoma confirms the car received the recommended snap ring service in 1999, and is included in the gallery below. The timing belt, water pump, fuel pump, and seals were replaced in January 2015, and the injectors were cleaned by RC Engineering in November 2015. A K&N drop-in air filter is housed in the OEM airbox.

Receipts for work preformed under the seller’s ownership can be seen in the gallery and include:

  • August 12, 2017 – 95,455 miles – Valve adjustment, valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals replaced with OEM parts, oil/filter changed
  • October 13, 2017 – 95,738 miles – New OEM twin disc clutch kit with flywheels, throw-out bearing, and hardware installed, new rear main seal, front engine mount, axle boots, SOS baffled oil pan, oil pan gasket, Koyo aluminum radiator, Mugen thermostat, and SCW radiator cooling panel installed, all 22 coolant hoses replaced, fresh coolant and transmission fluid added

In August 1998, the stock exhaust system was replaced with new DC Sports headers, Comptech test pipes, and a DC Sports exhaust. Several photographs of the undercarriage can be seen in the gallery below.

A previous owner upgraded the suspension with Comptech front and rear sway bars, rear brace, and rear toe links in August 1999. The brake lines were replaced with Comptech stainless units at that time. Records show new Bilstein shocks were added at 90k miles in November 2015, and the seller fitted OEM-sized StopTech slotted rotors, Hawk HP+ pads, and Motul brake fluid in August 2017.

The original owner’s manuals come with the car along with Honda service manuals and a Top Speed service cover for the rear portion of the car. Service records dating back to 1994 include scheduled dealership service, the installation of aftermarket equipment, and recent work performed under current ownership.

The Carfax notes the front impact in 1994 as involving a parked vehicle, and documents mileage with 11 odometer readings from September 1991 to August 2015.
