Seller Description

This is my 2002 Imola Orange/Orange, 6-speed manual NSX-T.  I’ve owned it for the last 4 years.  It is 1-of-19 Imola’s produced in 2002, the first year of the facelifted NA2.  From 2002 to 2005 there were a grand total of 49 total Imola Orange NSX’s made during the last 4 years of the 1st generation.  This makes the Imola Orange NSX’s more rare than a Zanardi Edition (50 manufactured for the public, plus for Alex Zanardi and one for Miguel Duhamel).  These particular colour NSX’s don’t change hands often.  Mine is the only one I have ever seen personally.

I purchased this car from the second owner in Colorado Springs, CO in 2014.  It’s in excellent shape for a 15 year-old car.  Before that it resided in Wisconsin.  Services are currently up to date.  It has a new battery, coolant tank, new rear tires, windshield wipers, and fairly recent brake pads in the rear.  Clutch, brakes and alignment are spot on.  I really haven’t done very much to it.  It is completely stock except for a shorty antenna, SOS shift knob, SOS side intake snorkel, and full Honda “H” badging throughout the car (front, rear, wheel center caps, engine intake, and airbag).  The car has been maintained over the last 4 years by Ramon at Niguel Motors in Laguna Hills, CA.  Ramon is the south west U.S. NSX specialist.  He also maintained my ’96 NSX previous to this one.  He knows the car well.  In the next four thousand miles it is due for the 90k timing belt and water pump service.  For the asking price I’ll be happy to have the service performed at my expense prior to vehicle pickup, if so desired by the buyer.

This car has resided in L.A. since I purchased it, and is driven at least every few days, a couple of miles here or there.  It also gets the occasional roof off blast through Malibu about once every other month.  It is adult owned, never abused, and receives any and all maintenance when required.  It has never seen any type of race track.  It is garage kept when not in use, and has never seen rain at least since I took possession of it. The previous owner drove the car to work around 100 highway miles roundtrip daily, 5 days a week in Colorado, when weather/season permitting.  CARFAX shows he drove it over 7,000 miles a year for over 7 years.  I bought the car with just under 70k on the odometer, and have put the rest of the miles on since, about 4,000 miles a year.  After purchasing it I drove it from Colorado to Los Angeles.  Other trips include Vegas, San Francisco, Lake Havasu, Santa Fe, San Diego, and San Luis Obispo.  I do drive it at least several times a week around town also.  Most of the miles, especially with the previous owner, were highway miles.  This car to the best of my knowledge has never seen snow or salted roads.  There is absolutely no rust or corrosion anywhere.  It could be driven across the continent tomorrow with no worries.  The beauty of the NSX besides its lightweight chassis, rev happy engine and rare analog Supercar character, is that you can actually enjoy the car instead of leaving it in the garage worried about putting miles on it.  There are many NSX's with over 200,000 and even some with 300,000 miles on the original engines.  And in almost a decade of driving two NSX's, i have spent less on both than i had in annual service on a Ferrari.

The windows work perfectly as they should, the air conditioning display unit and modes also work perfectly in every setting and position.  It blows ice cold.  The heater works.  All lights and functions, mirrors, buttons, locks, cruise control, power seats, etc., all function perfectly.  I’ve never used the CD player, but I’d imagine in typical Honda fashion that it probably works.  The water hoses are all in excellent shape, there are no fluid leaks, and all mechanicals are great.  The T-roof and window seals are all in perfect shape. There don’t seem to be any of the typical NSX problems.  This being one of the later cars produced towards the end of the run, I think all of the typical NSX issues were well sorted by that stage anyway.  The seats are in great condition, as is the dash board (no cracks or fading), the carpeting and interior, all virtually as new.  The steering wheel is also like new.  The floor mats have some normal wear, but nothing terrible.  There has never been food or liquids in my car since I’ve owned it. I don’t eat or drink in it and do not allow passengers to either.  The paint looks fantastic from every angle, has no fading, and there are no door dings or other damage to the car.  It has never been in an accident.  It has a clean CARFAX of which I have a copy (from Friday the 23rd of February, 2018).  There are rock chips here and there and the odd hairline scratch, but nothing obvious or noticeable without looking closely and specifically for it.  The driver’s seat has minimal wear, less than what a normal car would have, the passenger seat is like new.  The wheels are in great shape, but there is a little curb rash on one or two of them.  It’s fairly minor and is in the exact condition as when I bought the car, and I never bothered to refinish them.  The wheels are straight and true.  They’re wearing Nitto 215/17 tires on the front, and brand new (less than 300 miles) Nitto 255/17’s on the rear.  Perfectly aligned and vibration free.  As are the brakes.  I’m extremely picky about my vehicles, I have 7 or 8 very rare, limited or special edition cars and motorcycles, and they are all in excellent shape.  This NSX is not a pristine museum piece or un-driven garage queen, but it is very clean.  Most people when they encounter this car, think it’s a brand new 2018 model.  It’s quite entertaining to watch average people walk past, stop, and stare at it for a minute pondering what it is.  But it is a 2002 model car which does get driven, so there are less than average signs of normal wear.  When driven to places I already know, it’s parked well away from the general public in safe areas, and it’s not driven to places where I don’t know the parking situation ahead of time.  Both of my NSX’s have managed to remain door and body ding free.

The Imola Orange is a stunning colour to behold in person.  It looks a lot better than in pictures and gets a lot of compliments from people in all walks of life.  Even little old ladies will comment on what an incredible colour and lovely car it is.  It happened again yesterday with an 80-year old woman walking her Poodle as I took the photos.  Many teenagers will also harass you daily to tell you how awesome it is.  It gets easily 500% more recognition than my red/tan ’96 NSX-T could’ve dreamed of.  The orange interior perfectly compliments the exterior.  Personally I’m a big fan of the upgraded look on the 2002+ models.  It makes the NSX look thoroughly modern, and you also get the very best brakes, clutch, electronics, and everything else the NSX had to offer.  And by these years they weren’t making very many NSX’s, so you don’t see a lot of the fixed headlight cars.  These days, depending on where you live you may never see another one at all.

This one, like my ’96 NSX, has been virtually trouble free the entire time I’ve owned it.  It is an absolute pleasure to drive each and every day.  The SOS (driver’s) side intake snorkel is said to add 10 horsepower for an even 300 with the 3.2, and it makes the intake sound infinitely better.  It really enhances the sound inside the car under acceleration.  The two SOS pieces were already on the car when I bought it.  I have only added the Honda badging in place of the Acura stuff.  And the car as it sits is in the same or better condition than when I bought it.  As I said, I am very particular about the appearance of my vehicles.  I’d rate this car a 9 out of 10 on appearance.  It looks very good.

I’m not sure what else to say, let me know if I’m missing anything?  Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the car.  I’m available by mobile phone or e-mail for any further queries.  I took the CARFAX calculated retail value and added NSX Prime's formula of adding 6.5% for an "Imola" colour and came up with the asking price.  And then I dropped off a few grand.  I am a reasonable bloke and the sale price is reasonably negotiable of course.  I’m happy to show anyone the car at any time, for any length of time.  The title is completely clean, but I do owe the bank a little bit of money on it.
